Packaging: Outside

The box is well done. After you take the cover sheet off, the box opens in two separate pieces.

Packaging: Inside

The Gun is neatly faced down in the box, under it is the instruction manual, charger and a reusable bag that holds all the tips. Overall all the boxing and organization looks pretty good.

Testing Out the Hypervolt 2

First impression of the gun: Looking at the gun, one of the first things that stands out is the color. The gun is a lighter gray, I personally think a darker color would look better. All the plastics on the gun looked decent quality. I didn’t really like the whole design of the gun, it’s very bulky and awkward looking. The handle is an oval shape instead of a classic circular handle. This seems like it makes the grip too big and awkward. I do like the rubber on the handle; it gives you a lot of grip. The gun’s speed dial is very simple; there’s only one button that controls the speed and powering on and off the gun.

Testing the gun: It feels like you have to hold the button on forever to get it to turn on but once it’s on the gun works well. One thing I didn’t like was the grip, it was very thick and awkward. It’s definitely made for athletes or people with larger hands. The gun feels pretty powerful but it also vibrates alot and is noisy. I noticed it doesn’t take too much force to cause the motor to stall.

Size

The Hypervolt 2 is one of the larger guns Hyperice makes. This gun’s dimensions are 7.5in x 2.5in x 9.5in. Definitely smaller than some of its competitors like Theragun. The Theragun handle is about 6 inches long which allows plenty of room for your hand and the ability to easily reach spots that are difficult to reach like your back. Although the gun is smaller than the TheraGun Elite and Pro it just looks very bulky.

Weight

The Hypervolt 2 weighs in at 1.8lbs which is light compared to many of its competitors. The weight of the gun feels pretty good in your hands. Having a light gun makes it much easier and more comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

Stroke Length

Having a longer stroke length is a good thing when looking at massage guns as it means the gun is penetrating deeper into the muscle providing better results. The Hypervolt 2 has a stroke length of 12mm which is a little below average for top level massage guns. If you are not an athlete and just want a gun for basic everyday use then 12mm is perfect for you.

Stall Force

Stall force is how much pressure needs to be applied against the gun to cause the motor to stall. The Hypervolt 2 has a stall force of about 35lbs. This is a little below average when you look at it compared to guns that are around the same price. I was able to stall the motor pretty easily and I would say that the average person could do the same. This is a downside at times if you are using the gun to try to get deep knots out which requires you to use a lot of force.

Battery Life

The Hypervolt 2 has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that can last up to 3 hours on a single charge. One cool feature of Hypervolts is that their battery life is displayed by the color of the light ring towards the bottom of the gun. The gun comes with an 18V charger that plugs in at the bottom of the gun.

Attachments and Accessories

The Hypervolt comes with a few accessories including  extra tips, a charger, and 3 international plug adaptors. The gun comes with a total of 5 different tips. These tips look like they are good quality except all but 2 of them are made completely out of hard plastic which can be uncomfortable on the skin. I did like their sealed foam ball massage tip and the cushion tip.

Speed

The Hypervolt doesn’t give you a lot of variety in speeds as it only has 3 levels which reach speeds of 2,000, 2,350, and 2,700 rpm. This gun reaches a max speed of 2,700rpm which is a lot slower than many guns in its price range.

Noise level

The Hypervolt 2 reached a range of 58-65dB when I tested it with a sound level meter. The gun is generally quiet especially compared to TheraGun but you also have to take in consideration that the gun is not reaching the same speeds as its competitors.

Worth the Price?

The Hypervolt 2 is $299 making it close in price to some of the most elite percussion massager guns out there. After testing the gun myself and looking at all its specs I can see that this gun does not compare to its competitors in the same price range. So overall I would say that the Hypervolt 2 is not worth the price.
